Set in France around 1760, the Marquise de Merteuil needs a benefit from her ex-lover, Vicomte de Valmont. Marquise de Merteuil One former lover, Gercourt, is betrothed to a woman, young, virtuous called Cecile de Volanges. The Marquise would like Valmont to seduce Cecile before her wedding, so humiliated Gercourt. Meanwhile, Valmont has a conquest of his mind: Madame de Tourvel, a beautiful married woman and the fear of God. The Marquise does not think that Valmont can seduce her de Tourvel. She told him that if he can provide written proof of a sexual encounter with Ms. de Tourvel, she will give him a prize: a night with her. Valmont, however, will find themselves falling in love with Mrs. de Tourvel, and face the jealousy of the Marquise de Merteuil death. All along, Cecile de Volanges used as pawns in a game of sexual conquest and love scorned.
