In Austria in 1930, a young woman named Maria is not pathetic in his attempts to become a nun. When Captain Georg Von Trapp Navy wrote to the prison asking for a governess that can handle seven mischievous children, Maria is given the job. Captain's wife had died, and he used to go, and run the household as exactly as he does he sails on the boat. The children are unhappy and resentful of the governesses that their father keeps hiring, and have managed to run each of them out of one. When Maria arrived, she was initially met with hostility each other, but the kindness of the understanding, her sense of fun and soon drawn to her and bring some joy are essential in all even their lives – including the captain.
