Song of Freedom (1936)

Film may seem a bit old fashioned today, it truly remarkable film in many ways. The most obvious reason is the mother of an unusual subject, but most important aspects of the viewer should not be lost. For a mainstream film to play a strong and talented black man was very progressive for the day. And, seeing friends and Robson all respected as an individual – even white colleagues. In many ways the film comes off as a little too perfect – and racism is absent in this film Black and good men can actually achieve anything – that is private should resonate in the black communities in England Back home in the States. Film courage and great opportunity to see and hear amazing talent man.
